I like to think practically when it comes to gifting. Sure, a bottle of champagne, a box of macarons or a tube of lipstick might be a nice treat, but I wanted to present my bridesmaids with something they could use/wear on the day of my wedding and there afterwards. I had so many ideas in mind but took months to narrow down my choices. I considered many options from monogrammed leather purses to personalized make-up bags, earrings and robes. After much thought, I decided on customized hangers and pendant necklaces.
Customized Hangers
I know this has been a popular wedding trend, but I just love the look of engraved wooden hangers. I visited multiple sites in search of them (Ebay, Amazon, AliExpress, Etsy). You can personalize them in many ways - name, title (Maid of Honour, Bride, Bridesmaid), date of the wedding, you name it and they can probably do it. I picked plain natural wood hangers and used just their first names. I did find that my order took quite some time to make and deliver. Thankfully, I anticipated a longer shipping time and managed to receive them in time for the wedding. (Side note: I ended up ordering my hangers from a seller on Etsy. Unfortunately, I had a poor experience and would not recommend ordering from her. I'm sure there are many other sellers with great track records though! Be sure to read reviews from other buyers!)
Personalized Necklaces
I had the idea of engraving a piece of jewelry but couldn't decide on what I wanted. I love the look and quality of the initial pendants from Tiffany & Co. but wanted a more affordable option without breaking the bank. I decided to visit a local jewelry store and picked out sterling silver customizable pendants and chains. I chose the font size and style and had my bridesmaids' first initials engraved onto them. I was really happy with the end result and thought that they made a great gift and timeless keepsake for my girls. I was so excited to present the necklaces to them on the morning of my wedding.
